Resident Eileen finds purpose every day
For resident Eileen, helping to keep things organised is her way of contributing to life at Yackandandah Health Aged Care.
Since joining the community around three years ago, Eileen has enjoyed taking an active role in lending a hand where she can. She sets up the information board with the week’s activities, making sure residents know what’s happening, and gets involved with preparing the common spaces for events and activities.
Yackandandah manager, Aatqa, says it’s wonderful to see residents like Eileen get involved in their home in whatever way they can.
“We actively look for opportunities to weave enablement into everyday life. Residents like Eileen enjoy using their skills and abilities to contribute to their home. We’re here to encourage and support them to do the things they’re interested in. Eileen takes such pride in her role. She not only helps things stay on track, but she’s also an avid gardener and loves keeping the outside areas looking beautiful. too!”
Eileen’s familiar smiling face is a welcome sight for fellow residents who enjoy stopping for a chat as she goes about her tasks, some even joining in to help.
